BAFCO reduces maintenance costs to 16% and increases reliability with ManWinWin

BAFCO (Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company), responsible for fueling operations at Bahrain International Airport, has significantly reduced maintenance costs and increased the reliability of its equipment following the implementation of the ManWinWin CMMS.

Operating in a critical environment where asset availability and operational safety are paramount, BAFCO faced structural challenges in maintenance management: scattered information, inconsistent processes, and decision-making constrained by a lack of reliable metrics.

Transforming Maintenance Management with CMMS

The implementation of ManWinWin marked a turning point. The project, carried out between 2016 and 2018, enabled the centralization of all maintenance information, the structuring of processes, and the introduction of data-driven management.

The project was divided into three phases—implementation, consolidation, and evolution—during which BAFCO gained a complete asset inventory, preventive maintenance plans, structured work orders, and rigorous cost control. The introduction of key performance indicators (KPIs) strengthened analytical and decision-making capabilities.

Currently, BAFCO manages 627 pieces of equipment (up from 401 in 2017), has 52 active users, and has accumulated over 77,000 work orders—a significant increase from the 4,900 in 2017.

It is worth noting that only 9% of these orders correspond to corrective maintenance, indicating a clear shift toward a strategy of preventive and planned maintenance.

Cost reduction and greater operational efficiency

The gains achieved with ManWinWin become particularly evident when analyzing performance indicators.

Corrective maintenance costs fell from 51.3% in 2017 to 15.6% in 2025, representing a very significant reduction in unplanned maintenance and greater financial control.

In terms of operational effort, the time spent on corrective interventions also decreased, falling from 32.6% to 30.6% of total maintenance hours. At the same time, the overall workload remained stable—around 16,700 hours annually—demonstrating an effective improvement in execution efficiency.

Another key indicator, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), also showed a positive trend, rising from 11.01 to 11.34, signaling increased asset reliability and a reduction in the frequency of failures.

Greater control, greater reliability, and data-driven decisions

With ManWinWin, BAFCO transformed its maintenance management, gaining a structured and reliable history, increased team productivity, and shorter repair times. This project directly resulted in greater operational availability, lower risk, and higher overall efficiency.
