Palmela Recycling Centre strengthens maintenance management with ManWinWin

The Palmela Recycling Centre (CRP) has successfully implemented ManWinWin CMMS to improve the management of its maintenance activities, equipment, and assets.

The implementation was carried out through five face-to-face sessions between July 2025 and May 2026, involving the team responsible for maintenance and focusing on both production and non-production assets.

Managing maintenance in a demanding recycling operation

Since 1998, the Palmela Recycling Centre has been dedicated to the recycling of metallic waste. The facility processes approximately 200,000 tonnes of material every year, contributing to the recovery and reuse of valuable resources and to a more sustainable economy.

Within this demanding industrial environment, effective equipment maintenance and asset management are essential to support reliable and continuous operations.

The implementation of ManWinWin focused particularly on critical equipment, including the shredding line and rotary screens, while establishing a more structured approach to maintenance management across the facility.

Key maintenance management objectives

The project was designed to provide the CRP team with a centralized system for managing maintenance information and daily activities, including:

• Centralizing equipment and maintenance information
• Planning and scheduling preventive maintenance
• Recording corrective maintenance activities
• Managing maintenance requests
• Controlling maintenance spare parts and stock
• Monitoring maintenance performance indicators

By bringing this information together in a single CMMS platform, the team gained greater visibility and control over maintenance activities.

Strong team involvement and rapid adoption

The CRP maintenance team played an active role throughout the implementation and quickly became self-sufficient in using ManWinWin.

This strong involvement allowed the team to start generating results from the early stages of the project, while progressively integrating the CMMS into its daily maintenance routines.

By the end of the implementation, the system contained:

• More than 230 assets
• Around 260 scheduled preventive work orders
• More than 400 completed work orders
• Only 3 work orders in progress

These figures demonstrate a high level of system adoption and consistent use of ManWinWin for planning, recording, and controlling maintenance work.

A stronger foundation for maintenance performance

With the implementation completed, the Palmela Recycling Centre now has a centralized maintenance management system supporting the day-to-day management of its equipment and assets.

ManWinWin provides the CRP team with a structured way to plan preventive maintenance, record corrective work, manage maintenance information, and monitor activities across the facility.

The strong involvement of the maintenance team, combined with the level of information already established in the system, provides a solid foundation for further improving maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational control.
